As a "random act of kindness," Hazel Jones from McIntosh, MN sent Jenette and Gary a song she had written about the WTC attacks after reading about Annie in the Grand Forks Herald.

LET YOUR LIGHT CONSUME THE DARKNESS

By Hazel Jones 9-17-01

The lady of freedom statue
Let all nations come ashore,
At New York's harbor she welcomes
The oppressed from all over the world
A new life or beginning
She offers that to all
Who could ever imagine
That all of this would fall.

Two tall towers of freedom,
Stood there by her side.
A symbol o0f a mighty nation
With courage and with pride.,
Hijacked planes with people,
Crashed one on either side
And thousands now are missing,
And hundreds now have died.

Chorus:
A sign said, "Have you seen my daddy?"
All these lovely children Forgotten and alone
God as you look down upon us
Please let us not hate.
Let your light consume the darkness
And teach us Lord to wait.

Terror came out of nowhere
Across a sun filled sky,
Killing innocent people
And still we wonder why.
Millions now surround us
In sorrow and in grief,
We can conquer evil
When we get down on our knees.

Chorus:
A sign says, "Have you seen my brother?"
"Sister, please come home"
Innocent ones have paid a price
The world has never known
God as you look down upon us,
Please Lord, if you would,
Let your light consume the darkness
And turn all things to good.

We cannot ignore the firemen
Or policemen, who have died,
They rushed in to help the helpless
As the towers collapsed inside.
We unite as one Lord,
In anger and defeat.
A nation prays together,
Turning the bitter into sweet. Chorus:
A sign says, "Have you seen this fireman?"
"We honor you, men in blue."
And now our soldiers everywhere
Will die taking care of you.
God as you look down upon us
Please let us not hate,
Let your light consume the darkness
And teach us Lord to wait.

One whole week has passed now
Since this terror came,
And I can't comprehend it,
We have suffered so much pain.
Lord we know your Son was sent
To die upon the cross,
And we all take for granted,
Just how much it cost.

Chorus:
The sign says, "Jesus Saves"
"The wicked and the lost",
And "Jesus Loves Me This I Know"
The children all are taught.
God as you shine down upon us,
We know not who to blame
We ask for their forgiveness
And pray in Jesus' name.

Chorus:
The sign says, "Have you seen my daddy?"
"Mommy please come home."
Gone but not forgotten,
The heroes will live on.
God as you shine high above us
Please Lord, if you would,
Let your light consume the darkness
And turn all things to good.
